ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The project is made in collaboration with D. Agostini as part of university project. The building is located in the northern suburbs of Rome, close to a natural reserve and mainly surrounded by the fields. The side towards the city keeps the same straight alignment of the fronting buildings; instead, the opposite front opens in a large courtyard facing the Roman countryside. The garden is delimited by the wing of the gym and the canteen; this is partially undergrounded for not closing the visual and for creating a livable rooftop accessible from a green hill. 

The main idea is to generate a fluid, dynamic and colorful space to let children avoid the monotony. This is reached following the dislevels of the ground solved through ramps accessible by everyone. Connective spaces are not only hallways but can host several functions becoming places for sharing and socialization, as the library-ramp in the middle. Double heights and skylights provides natural indirect light and ensure the visual connection between the spaces.
